5 tips to stay productive as a blogger

I’m not going to sit here and go on as though I’m the best blogger in the world.. absolutely not! BUT I do love blogging, I’m getting better at it and want to do it full time.. so that counts for something right?

I’ve been blogging now for roughly 2 years.. give or take. But only seriously blogging since the beginning of this year (which is now nearly over.. what??). And I’d like to think I’ve learnt a thing or too, something that could come in handy to other bloggers just starting out..

Productivity is one of those things that we all really need, in most aspects of our lives. So blogging is no different. Like I said before, I’m no expert but over the past year I have picked up some tips that have definitely helped me stay on track and improve my blog. I’m still learning and will probably look back on this post in a years time and be amazed at how far I’ve come.

I’m always looking for tips and tricks to get the most out of my blog.. so if you’ve got any, feel free to let me know!

Give it everything you’ve got;

This goes for everything in life, put your absolute all into it! If blogging is your passion, it comes easily to you. But one thing I have learnt is that despite how much I enjoy something, if I don’t pour my heart and soul into it, I’ll never improve. Being good at something and being dedicated to something are too very different things. You can do the bare minimum and just about scrape through or you can go above and beyond and excel at something you love.. that choice is yours. I will say this though, this point is more for those wanting to do blogging full time, hobby bloggers can create content as and when without any real pressure. To see the best results, we can’t be doing things half heartedly.. dedication and determination will take you far, in your blogging career and in life.

Create a blogging schedule;

Whether this be on an app on your phone or in one of your many notepads.. create a schedule you know you will follow. Write down all the details you will need. What you want to write about this month, what post you want to post on which day, new blog post ideas, research you need to do for your posts.. write it all down. The more organized you are, the easier it is. This has been key for me, staying on track with my content is up there with the most important thing to do whilst blogging. Set reminders on your phone and dedicate time during your day for writing posts, take any pictures you may need for that week or even that month, stay in front with posts all ready and waiting to be posted.. it makes life so much simpler!

Prioritize your content;

If blogging is something you want to do full time you need to prioritize your content. Put your all into it, make time in each day to write up more blog posts, take the best pictures.. treat it like a job almost. If that’s where you see it going, then go for it! What we focus on the most, we end up getting the most from. I like a routine (if you’ve read any of my other posts you’ll already know this). In my daily routine I have a certain amount of time where I focus purely on my blog. I spend this time, thinking of new post ideas, writing them up or generally educating myself on how to improve my blog. The more time and effort I put into it, the better the pay off is.

Put away any distractions;

If you’re wanting to do blogging full time and it isn’t just a hobby to you, you need to spend a decent amount of time on your blog. This was one thing I used to struggle with right at the beginning.. having too many distractions around me. I would sit down to write my post, my TV would be on, my phone would be at the side of me and my door would be wide open. This in itself created so many distractions for me. SO, I turned off my TV, put my phone out of reach and closed my door. I kept distractions to a minimum (obviously this can be difficult if you live with others), but for me, making sure I was focusing purely on my blog and not on anything else around me gave me all the tools I needed to start being more productive on my blog.

Enjoy it;

I find that I’m most productive when I’m enjoying something. When it comes to my blog, I love writing and I love sharing content. In no way do I find it a chore.. if it becomes a chore, maybe take a little breather then come back to it. The easiest way to become successful at something is to enjoy it. Yes you’re going to have to put in some hard work, yes you’ll make mistakes, and some days, you really won’t feel like writing.. but if you enjoy it, you’ll do it regardless. So enjoy every minute of it!
