Healthy habits to improve your life

I’m very much on the path to really discovering myself. I’m doing everything I possibly can to ensure I get the most out of my life, one of these things is improving it in any way I can. I’ve learnt a lot these past few years, but even more so in the last 6 months or so..

Personally I will try anything if it means I can improve my life in some way. So I thought it would be good to share some of the things that work for me.. in case you are wanting to do the same..

Morning routine

I’ve done a post on my morning routine, so I won’t bang on about it too much. But this for me was a game changer. It was the part of my day that needed the most attention, the most important part of your day may I add. But for some reason, this was the part of my day that I paid little attention to, until recently. Mornings are important, if you have a good morning.. you’ll more than likely have a good day, and that’s all we really want isn’t it? Create a morning routine that works for you (if you need any ideas, check my post out). But for the most part, do what you feel is right, something that will benefit you and help to improve your life.

I realise this isn’t for everyone and believe it or not, it took me a while to master too. This is a work in progress kind of thing, you have to keep batting away at it in order to get the most out of it.. practice makes perfect. Guided meditation works best for me and is part of my morning routine. But if sitting silently works for you, then feel free to do that.. if you’re struggling with it, try both and see what works best. In terms of improving my life, this has been the one thing that I do feel I have benefited majorly from.. the silence, the concentration, the inner guidance I feel from 5 minutes of meditation on a morning has been more than I could have imagined.

Prioritise yourself

I mean this in the most un selfish way possible, but we must always look after number one. Yes do things for others, do lots for others in fact, help out in anyway you can.. life is about giving, but it is also about prioritising yourself. Work on yourself, everyday, do what makes you happy, love yourself, find your purpose in life, learn new skills, do whatever it takes to ensure you get the most out of your life.

Move your body

Exercise, do some yoga, dance, go for a run, whatever it is.. just move your body. I found that the more time I spent sat down, the less motivated I felt. Especially during this time, when the world had drastically slowed down. I had to push myself just to go for a walk. Once I started getting myself back into some kind of exercise routine (mainly walking and home workouts) the better I felt about myself. Not only is this so important for our physical health but also our mental health.

Laugh often

This is one I live by and have done for as long as I can remember. Laughing is pure, it feels amazing, it brightens your mood and raises your vibrations. Laugh, laugh as much as you possibly can, it’s important and it is one simple way of improving your life. Spend time with people who make you laugh, watch comedy’s or funny dog videos, whatever it is, just try and laugh as often as you can.

Love; Love a lot

Self love, relationship love, family love, pet love, nature love.. just LOVE. Fill your life with as much love as possible. Fill it with people who you love and love you back, fill it with all the different things in life that bring you joy. Read books about love, watch films about love. Love is vital to our life. The main kind of love though, is self love. Work on loving yourself every single day!

Be grateful

I have a small notebook that I keep at the side of my bed, every single morning without fail, I write down 3 things I am grateful for. I can’t stress enough how much this has improved my life. I’m pretty sure it’s just down to the fact that it gives me focus, it allows me to be thankful and grateful for the things I already have in my life rather than think about the things I haven’t got yet. Gratitude in itself is one step to improving your life. If I could recommend one step to really improving your life, it would be to be grateful for every single thing you have in your life.

Get lots of fresh air

Try your best not to stay in the house for too long (I understand this can be difficult for some, especially with the current situation). But fresh air does us the world of good. Even if it is just sitting outside for 10 minutes or so, the fresh air is so good for your mind and body. I love nothing more than to go out for a long walk or if the weather is nice, sit outside in my garden with a good book. It’s made me appreciate the nature around me much much more.

Spend time with loved ones

We need our loved ones (this can be friends, family members, partners etc) they are so very important. We need solid foundations and relationships around us. Surround yourself with people with pure hearts and good souls. Spend as much time with them as possible, laugh together, love together and create memories that will last a life time. Quality time with good people is amazing for the heart and quality of our lives.
