Autumn fashion essentials 2020

Ahhhh we’re here, we’re in Autumn.. the leaves are turning orange and I now have to layer up when I go for a walk, maybe even throw on a scarf for good measure. I mean, I live in England so we could have sunshine next week.. who knows. But as of right now, it’s raining majority of the time and it’s cold enough that I’ve had to get all my Autumn/Winter clothes out.. I’m a little excited if you didn’t already know.

I don’t know what it is this year, but I just feel like revamping my wardrobe. I want to fill it with new knitwear and cute dresses to wear with tights. So here’s to Covid leaving us all alone, so we can get back to loving our lives again.. and having somewhere to go to wear cute clothes, obviously.

Anyway, I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping (it’s been my favourite past time just recently) and there are just so many new pieces I am obsessed with. So I thought I would share with you some of my Autumn clothing essentials..

Oversized aviator jacket/coat;

They sell these pretty much everywhere these days, in most shops and on most online stores. Missguided do a few cute ones. I said oversized, just purely because I like that style better on myself.. but there are honestly so many to choose from. They are a statement piece but can be both dressed up with a knitted dress and pair of heels or dressed down with a tracksuit and some Nike air force.

Turtleneck jumper;

The time has finally come when it is acceptable to wear turtlenecks all the time.. I love a turtleneck underneath a slip dress, there’s just something edgy but cute about it. I do have quite a few, but only in staple colours.. so this Autumn I intend to buy more, in a variety of colours.

Mom jeans;

Mom jeans are a go-to all year round. You can pull them off at pretty much any point during the year. During the colder months they look amazing with a pair of boots, a bodysuit and an oversized jacket. If you don’t own a pair of mom jeans, I suggest getting yourself a pair. They are a staple in any wardrobe!

Okay, I’m all about looking cute.. but sometimes, I just want to be comfy. Tracksuits/loungewear can be worn outside of the house too. I have the ones that you will only ever find me in, in the house. But I also have my ‘best’ loungewear if you will. The ones perfect for colder months, that I can throw on and cover with a big fluffy coat and some trainers.

Faux leather trousers/leggings;

Another piece that can be worn all year round. But especially now we are entering the colder months, I feel like these will become essential in anyone’s wardrobe. Faux leather in it’s self is simple but extremely fashionable. When it comes to trousers or leggings I tend to go for black, brown and maybe throw in a khaki now and then. But stick to darker colours, especially for Autumn. Dress them up with a blazer and heels or dress them down with trainers and a hoody.

Trench coat;

I’ve wanted a trench coat for the longest time. But because I’m ‘petite’ I just haven’t found one that fits me perfectly. They’ve been around for a while now but are still very much in fashion. This is a coat that looks effortless and they pretty much speak for themselves. It doesn’t really matter what you wear underneath, the trench coat will do the talking.

Faux leather jacket;

Like the trench coat, I am yet to find my perfect faux leather jacket. They are very much the ‘in’ jacket at the moment, so I’m pretty sure I’ll find one somewhere. They just look so edgy and sophisticated. If you didn’t already know, I absolutely love blazers! So a faux leather blazer is exactly what I need to add to my collection.

High neck midaxi dress;

Just because it’s getting colder, doesn’t mean you can no longer wear dresses. I love a maxi dress, but I love a midaxi dress even more. They aren’t so easy to come by especially being petite, but most online stores stock them in the petite range too. I love a ribbed midaxi dress, probably in black. Stick on a faux fur coat and some trainers and you’ve got yourself the perfect day date outfit.

Maxi cardigan;

It’s all about comfort this time of year, so anytime I can wear knitwear, you bet I will be. They are not only super comfy, but look cute too. I’m obsessed with cardigans, well.. all of the time. But during the Autumn and winter months, they are the perfect piece to wear. Layer them up, or wear them around the house.

Oversized blazer;

Obviously it wouldn’t be a Lois post if I didn’t mention a blazer. Honestly, I think I’ve got a problem.. in fact no I haven’t, I just LOVE them. They don’t just add to the outfit, they are the outfit. For Autumn time, I’m thinking a forest or khaki green or a rust coloured blazer, something that gives me autumnal vibes.

Check shirt;

A check shirt is an essential for everyday wear. I love to just throw them on over a white tee and a pair of jeans, some trainers and you’re good to go. Most online stores stock them now and they come in some pretty nice colours too.
