I know I bang on about reading so much on my blog, but it’s right up there with my favourite things to do..
I just love it! But I thought I would do something a little different and share with you my reasons as to why I read so much, aside from the obvious.. my love for all books.
Ever since I was younger, I’ve always been that child that loves to read. Whenever I could, I would have a book in my hand. But as I reached my teenage years, it kind of fizzled out. I would read the odd book here and there but nothing major. I would spend majority of my time outside or with my friends, leaving my books gathering dust on my bookshelf.
Yes I had a bookshelf filled with all my favourite books at the time. It was once my favourite thing in my room.
A few years ago, something happened in my life that changed it in quite a big way and I guess you could say it forced me to take a good look at my life and the things I liked to do. So one day, I picked up a book that I had bought a while ago but never got round to reading and there it was.. my love for reading came flooding back.
I found it again, that passion for reading. I’d say it has always been there, it just got pushed aside for a while. But this time it came back, full throttle. The first chance I got, I was at the book shop buying whatever I could.
Along with my love for reading, writing became another passion of mine. Hence the book reviews, it’s two of my favourite things to do rolled into one.. perfect.
Still to this day, I always make sure I take time out of my day to read. Whether it be for 30 minutes or 2 hours, whatever spare time I have, I’ll spend it reading. Don’t get me wrong, I do plenty of others things as well as reading. Baking, going out for cocktails with my friends, shopping.. there’s plenty more, but I won’t bore you with that.
The only problem I have now is, I cannot and I mean cannot walk past a book shop without at least having a little peak.. it’s a real problem. I feel like there is nothing better than getting lost in a good book, you know the ones; when you’ve had your head buried in a book for the past, who knows how long and you look up to find 3 hours has passed.. ahh that’s the one.
It’s a nice way to escape for a little while. My life is amazing.. I don’t mean I read to escape my reality. But just to focus on something other than work or what is going on on social media. One of my life goals is to have a house big enough to have a library. A full size walk in library (like the one on Beauty and The Beast).
I think it’s important to spend time during your day, doing something you love. If that’s reading, then make sure you stock up on all your favourite books (or try new ones). Make time for it, no matter how busy your life gets.
