Monthly favourites – May

I know I said this last month, but what the? How is may over already? Just like that another month is over and done with.

Things are still limited at the moment (we’re still in lockdown and social distancing still very much applies). So my favourites are made up of things I’m enjoying whilst staying home and staying safe, which is all that matters right now.

My birthday 
I’ve wrote about this in a previous post, but it definitely deserved another mention. I worried about being in lockdown for my birthday (which I’m sure many other people have). But it turned out to be one of my best yet. I spent it with my family (who I live with) and made memories I will remember forever and despite the circumstances it was everything I could have wished for.

Manifesting 
I went through a stage where I just couldn’t seem to manifest the things I wanted. I’m putting it down to what is happening in the world right now. It’s been a tough time and focusing on manifestation was the least of my worries. But as of this month, I have managed to get a few things I’ve been asking for. My mind is a lot clearer so this paves the way for all good things to come into my life.

Exercise plan 
I’ve never really been an exercise plan type of girl, I just didn’t see the point. But this month I decided to purchase my first. So far it is going just as I wanted and it has given me the focus to really get back into fitness I needed. Gyms are still closed so this is the next best thing. The plan is one thing I will definitely be carrying on well after lockdown is over. It is full of useful tips on how to keep your body looking it’s best and all the nutrients we need but sometimes don’t get. I bought it just at the right time, when I needed it the most, physically as well as mentally.

First takeaway in months 
This is one of those you’re probably thinking why is this in her favourites. Well just a little back story; I used to have a takeaway once a week, on the weekend on my cheat day if you will, (usually a chinese). But since the end of February I haven’t had one. I’ve been eating all home cooked food (this way I know it’s all good for me). But I decided I deserved a treat, hence the takeaway. It wasn’t from the chinese (the one local to me is still closed). But it was still delicious and I enjoyed every bit of it, but for now I’ve had my fill and I am straight back to eating as healthy as possible.

Sunbathing 
We had one of the hottest days of the year so far not too long ago, and like a true brit.. I sunbathed for every minute possible. I soaked up the sun and loved every bit of it. Since then the weather has been amazing and has made for plenty of well deserved sunbathing days. May has probably been the best so far where the weather is concerned. I’ve managed to get a little bit of a tan from sitting in my back garden.. who would have thought it? So thank you UK weather, you’re a babe.

Meditation music 
I’ve never really been one for meditation music, I’m not entirely sure why.. I guess I just found it quite distracting, or I never found the right music, either way I gave it up as a bad job. Until recently, maybe a week ago. I just decided to try and find some music to help with my meditation. I was struggling to shut off at points and figured I’d try another way. I found a few videos on YouTube and a playlist on Spotify, mainly water music (waves, ocean, waterfalls). I find these the easiest to relax to and they have definitely improved my quality of meditation. So if you’re struggling I’d definitely give this a go.

Mindset is a lot better
Along with many other people I’ve been on a bit of a roller coaster this past few months. I feel like the worst of it is over (mentally), but don’t get me wrong, I still have my bad days. For the most part, may has been the month I have felt like myself again. I gave myself a big kick up the bum, got my routine back on track, started to enjoy different aspects of life again (which I’d put on the back burner for a while).. it’s improved my mental state so much and I am so grateful for it.

Series 
Gangs of London. So many people were raving about this all over social media. So obviously I had to see what all the fuss was about. And I think it’s fair to say I was not disappointed. Because I’d heard so much about it already I was hoping it would live up to expectations.. it did. This series is well and truly suitable for staying home and binging until your heart is content. Mind the gory bits though, they can take you by surprise.

Book – Sarah Morgan: One summer in Paris 
I started reading this book a couple of days ago. It’s become my sunbathing book (that’s something I never thought I’d be saying.. UK isn’t known for it’s hot weather). After reading a couple of her other books, I treat myself to another. So far it is everything I could want in a book. An easy read but with substance and a story line that pulls you in. Give me a few more days and I’m sure I’ll be writing up a book review.

  1. I sunbathed like crazy as well in May. And now, look at this shitty weather? Honestly, I’ve realised, London weather is as unpredictable as it’s people. Isn’t it?
