Sticking to a fitness regime during quarantine

First things first.. it’s hard work BUT completely worth it.

I’m not going to sit here and say I stick to a fitness routine every single day because I most definitely don’t. Some days I honestly just cannot be bothered. Being on lockdown is testing me every single day, in so many ways.

I like to think I’m quite good at fitness, but there’s definitely room for improvement and that is exactly what I am trying to do during this time. It makes perfect sense to do something I have always wanted to do, but always feel like I haven’t got enough hours in the day.. (I have, I just need to prioritize better).

If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ll know I’ve been trying my best to stick to a regular gym regime (3 times a week). But when lockdown began, all gyms were closed. So for the time being, that is no longer an option.

I guess you could say I lost my motivation for fitness, it’s a lot easier to slip into a lazy state of mind when you don’t actually have any reason to leave the house (work is on pause for the moment too). So getting up every morning and doing just 30 minutes exercise just seemed too much of an effort.

Recently I decided to pay for a fitness plan, which is filled with all the exercises I could ever need along with recipes and other helpful tips. I’ve ordered my resistance bands (they haven’t arrived yet). I just figured I needed some guidance and that if I was going to come out of lockdown looking and feeling my best, this was the perfect time to start.

Because my resistance bands are yet to arrive, I haven’t been able to fully throw myself into the plan, but hopefully they won’t take too long. Anyway while I wait for them to arrive, I’ve been getting up every morning and doing at least 30 minutes exercise (just to get myself prepared, you know). 10 minutes of HIIT followed by 20 minutes of core exercises.

It’s going pretty well so far and I’m loving how good it makes me feel. I try and do it on a morning, just because if I don’t.. I don’t end up doing it. My mind feels a lot clearer, which is amazing for me right now!

All I want to say is, it doesn’t matter if you haven’t bought yourself a plan or that you don’t do exercise on a daily basis, or if you have bought yourself a plan and are yet to start it, or just some days exercising is the last thing you want to do.. we’re all coping with this situation differently and that is completely fine! If you don’t feel like working out, give yourself a break!
