Monthly favourites – April

HANG ON A MINUTE!!! Where did April go?

Am I missing something here.. How are we in may? And why did April feel like it only lasted 2 days?

I’m still in shock, honestly I am. Anyway, we’re here so it’s time for another monthly favourites post. I love writing these.. I wanted to create a little bit of a series on my blog and figured monthly favourites was a good place to start. I still love it and I’m hoping you do too.

Blog content

Being in lockdown has given me all the time in the world to concentrate on my blog content. I always used to dedicate lots of my time to writing the best posts possible, but lockdown has given me even more time (which I’m not complaining about). It’s given me the chance to organise a little better and to set myself up a blogging schedule, which as of right now is going really well. I’m taking the positives out of this situation and using my time to better my blog.

Time in the sun/garden

Fresh air is vital to our mental health. So whenever the weather is nice, I’ll be sat out in my back garden taking in the sun. I try and spend as much time as I can outside (usually writing blog posts, with the occasional G&T thrown in for good measure). The weather here in the UK has been surprisingly very nice, with the odd rainy day now and then. But for the most part, the weather has been perfect, which makes being stuck indoors that bit brighter.

New recipes

Time is something I have plenty of at the minute, so along with blog content, another thing I wanted to do was try new recipes. Baking mainly but also some cooking. I’ve been spending ridiculous amounts of time scouring through the internet for recipes I want to give a go. It’s been fun just finding them, but even better when I get to sample some delicious brownies. Baking has been an escape for me during this time, so I’m thankful I enjoy it so much.

I’ve recently started two new books, one self help and the other a fiction book. The self help book being; Get your sh*t together by Sarah Knight and the fiction story is called; The holiday cottage by the sea by Holly Martin. Both equally amazing books but couldn’t be any more polar opposite if I tried. Reading is perfect to pass some time (let’s be honest, days do seem to drag a little at the minute). They are both amazing books and yes I will be doing a review on them both once I have finished reading them. You know me, any excuse to write a book review.

For a while, I was struggling to find new music. Until TikTok came about.. I haven’t actually got TikTok, but the songs on there are a bit of me. I’ve found so many new songs from that app alone and it has definitely helped update my playlist. There are so many, I couldn’t actually pick a favourite, so we’ll just go with them as a whole.

Binge worthy series

You know me, I’m a Netflix kinda girl. But recently I’ve been watching a series called Manifest on Sky TV. Manifest is the series about a plane that landed 5 and a half years after it’s actual flight date. I’ve wanted to watch it for so long (from when I saw the trailer doing it’s rounds on Facebook). But I couldn’t find it anywhere to watch it, until I came across it on Sky catch up. I downloaded the whole 2 series’ and have been constantly watching it ever since. I’m obsessed!

I mentioned in my March favourites that I’ve been having lots of makeup free days.. I still do. But recently I’ve been practicing a little more with makeup. I’m no makeup artist, but playing around with new colours and palettes that I’ve not used for a while has been fun. I obviously wipe it off not long after, because I have nowhere to go. But it’s been one way of passing a bit of time.. getting better at a smokey wing, ready for when we can go outside again.

Balanced diet

It’s so hard to stick to a healthy diet when you’re stuck in doors all day everyday. But I’ve been doing my best to eat as healthy as possible over the past few weeks. Food is one of the things that make us happy during this time. Whether it be making it yourself or ordering from a local takeaway, eating is a very fun aspect of life. I haven’t ordered takeaway since all this began, home cooked meals are what I’ve been having. But even still, I’ve been trying to avoid food that I know isn’t that good for me. I’d say it’s still a work in progress, just purely because I find so much enjoyment from eating a tub of Ben and Jerry’s chocolate brownie ice cream.. but grapes are better for me, so you know.. balance.
