Gym routine/Home workout

I would love nothing more than to be one of those girls that absolutely loves going to the gym. I mean, imagine waking up and looking forward to doing an hours exercise.. I love it when I’m there, actually we’ll go with like, love is a bit strong. Anyway, once I’m there I feel good, tired but good. It’s just the getting motivated enough to go that’s the struggle for me.

I haven’t got a ‘gym routine’ as such. I go 3 times a week, which in all honesty is a major improvement on last year. I’m only just finding my feet when it comes to the gym so I’d say 3 times a week is pretty damn good, I usually go on a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday. I’d like to go 5 times a week, but for now I need the rest days in between.

Tuesday and Thursday are my ‘home workout’ days. The days where I do all the things I didn’t get chance to do in the gym.. usually with the help of a YouTube video. I find watching an exercise video much easier, it definitely helps with my technique (I’m not the best at remembering exercises). Core workout is best in the comfort of my own home for now, just because this is where I’m most comfortable. (Gyms can be pretty intimidating at times).

Gym days are my cardio days, I’m doing my best to become as physically fit as possible.. I need to be able to run up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath. So yes, cardio is for me right now. Although I do use the machines for toning muscles quite a bit too. I haven’t quite got to the lifting weights just yet.. but that’s a goal for this year. I aim to do around an hour in the gym every time I go, spreading my time out over a few different machines.

Also I like to switch it up every so often and do a bit of Yoga. Again, I’m not an expert at this but I genuinely enjoy doing it. This is something else I have the help of a YouTube video for; If you’re a visual learner like me, this definitely helps. I get out my Yoga mat and away I go for half an hour or so. At the end of my Yoga session, I like to do 5 or 10 minutes of meditation, you don’t have to do this, but for me it’s a nice way to wind down.

Another part of my exercise regime is going for a walk on a weekend or if I have the time, through the week. This obviously isn’t in the gym or at home but it’s what I do to try and stay as healthy as possible. Sometimes it’s nice to just get out for half an hour to an hour, or longer if you like. Something a little different to being stuck in a gym or doing exercises on your Yoga mat at home. Fresh air somewhere scenic definitely makes me feel good. As long as I do 30 minutes of exercise each day, I’m happy.
