Monthly favourites – January

I’ve been wanting to do one of these posts for so long now.. I’ve officially had my first year of blogging and all last year a monthly favourites blog post was on my agenda but for some reason I never got round to writing one.

So from now on I’m hoping to be doing a monthly favourites every month throughout the year. I didn’t want to restrict myself to just one type of favourite so it’ll be a mixture of everything; make up, clothes, accessories, new books I’m reading, new music I’m listening to, programs you should give a try, and also some favourite places I’ve visited. Also I want to include some of my achievements, little momentos of things that have made me happy that month.. so yes, a bit of everything!

Second season of ‘You’;
I started watching this the day it was released on Netflix. I was absolutely obsessed with the first season, so obviously I was going to be just as obsessed with this one. I binged watched this in a few days and told everyone they had to watch it if they hadn’t already.

Perfume – Ghost;
I’ve has this perfume before, a long long time ago. It was one of my first perfumes (my mum had it, so I copied her). And recently I’ve been looking for some new perfumes to add to my collection. Nothing too expensive, just something I can wear on a daily basis and not feel guilty about it because of the price. They sell this in most shops in the UK, so next time you’re shopping, go and try a tester of this scent, you’ll love it I promise.

Vex king – Good vibes, good life;
I did a review post on this book so I won’t bang on about it too much, but this is by far the best book I have ever read and I will be taking it everywhere with me. If you fancy reading my thoughts on this book then check out my post Good vibes – Good life: Book review

Meditate every day;
I usually struggle with this one. I tend to get so busy that just 5 minutes a day to meditate kind of becomes a chore. One of my goals this year was to always make time for meditation, no matter how busy I am. This month I’ve managed to do it daily and although it might seem small, I’m proud of myself for doing it.. I honestly feel so much better for it.

Stuck to a gym routine;
Another one that is sometimes a chore, going to the gym regularly without making up an excuse not to go. I’ve managed to organise my days a lot better and make sure I have the time to go to the gym 3 times a week. Hopefully this is something that will carry on throughout the year, but for now I’m happy I’ve managed even just a month (It’s an improvement on last year).

Made a start on completing my goals;
I’ve got a long list of goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year.. and instead of feeling overwhelmed by them, I’ve just started completing them. It’s an amazing feeling accomplishing certain things in your life, so this is definitely a favourite for this month.

Made time for myself;
I’ve always been pretty good at making time for myself, but last year that kind of dwindled. So I made a promise to myself I would always make time for myself, it could be anything from; going to the gym, having a night in watching films or series’ on my own eating way too many snacks, getting my nails done, going shopping alone or having a pamper night once every so often.. I did a post on how I have the perfect pamper night if this is something you might want to try; How to have the perfect pamper day

Put up 3 posts per week;
Last year I’ll admit I was pretty inconsistent with my posts, I knew what I wanted to write about but my main aim was to find what my readers liked the most.. so I guess you could say it was trial and error with my posts for my first year of blogging. This year I made a goal to put up 3 posts per week, and I’ve done just that. I absolutely love writing posts, I get so much enjoyment from it, and when I get comments saying how much you like my posts it makes it all worth it.

Highlighter brush by Real Techniques;
I got a new highlighter brush not so long ago and it’s one of the best brushes I own. You’ll know my love for real techniques brushes if you’ve read my previous post Why Real Techniques brushes are the ones for you. But this is a brush I didn’t know I needed, and now I’ve started using it, I cannot do my make up without it. Not to mention how pretty it is (I’m a sucker for anything pink and girly).

Snuggly cushion;
Bit of a random one, but I had a big snuggly cushion bought for my at Christmas, it’s more of a posture cushion and it makes sitting with my laptop and writing lots of posts so much better. It helps to keep me sat up straight (I don’t have a desk). It’s big and does take up quite a bit of room but I couldn’t do without it now. It’s pretty and pink and looks so cute amongst my cushions on my bed. I love it.

Bracelet with my name engraved;
If you’ve got an uncommon name like myself you’ll understand the struggle of coming across something with your name on. They do every other version apart from Lois, so I’ve probably only ever had one or two things with my name on. For Christmas this year I got a bracelet with my name engraved on and my birth stone (Emerald, I’m a May baby). I love it because it’s so personal and such a thoughtful gift.

New every day bag;
I needed a new everyday bag, but I’ll be the first to admit I’m awkward when it comes to picking bags. I like them to be a certain way, not too big but not too small, has to have a few compartments and be easy to open and close when I’m shopping.. also it has to be adjustable (I’m small so some bags that don’t adjust don’t sit where I need them to). I’ve now got the perfect everyday bag, it’s not too glam but also not too plain. I use it every single day wherever I go and I’m chuffed to bits with it.
