End of year goals

At the beginning of the year we all make those ‘New years resolutions’ that we hardly ever stick to, or we do but only for a few months.. It’s normal, we’ve all done it.

I’ve achieved so much this year, the biggest thing.. making myself happy! It sounds so simple, but honestly it’s one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. At the end of 2018 I realised I was beating myself up about not achieving enough so I set myself a goal, to not be so hard on myself and make sure I do everything that makes me truly happy.

I’d say I’ve kept to this for the most part of the year, obviously we have those days where we feel like rubbish and start to question if we’re doing enough for our future. But other than that I’ve managed to stick to my goal. As far as making a goal for this year, that was the only one. As soon as I realised how much better I felt once I’d done this it made me want to set myself more goals.

I’ve got lots I want to achieve next year but there are a few I would like to start/carry on this year and hopefully carry on throughout all of 2020.

Carry on being happy – This goes without saying, once you’re happy, you never want that feeling to go away. I was speaking to a friend not long ago and she said ‘you look so happy, it suits you’ and honestly that was the best feeling. Knowing I’m happy myself is one thing, but other people noticing is another. So my goal is to do what makes me happy, always! To be happy for the remainder of 2019 and forever after that!

Get back into the gym – I feel like this is on majority of people’s list of goals. I had the same new years resolution at the start of the year and honestly.. I haven’t stuck to it. So for the rest of the year I want to go to the gym as much as possible, have a good gym routine that’s easy for me to stick to. I always feel so much better once I’ve been, but you know what it’s like.. somethings come up, I’ll put the gym off for another day or I’m too busy to go.. those excuses. The ones I need to stop using and create time to get myself into a gym routine for the rest of the year.

Work as much as I can on my blog – This one probably goes without saying, I started blogging properly at the beginning of this year, and honestly I’ve loved it. I love writing, I love always having something to write about, I love sitting at my computer putting everything into my blog posts. So for the rest of 2019 I want to carry on improving my blog and creating more posts that you will hopefully love as much as me. I obviously have major goals for my blog but this year has been about discovering my niche and what people enjoy reading. So I want to carry on with that, the bigger stuff will begin soon.

Eat healthy – Another one which kind of goes without saying. I’m fairly healthy (well so I like to think). I have a balanced diet, but just like everyone I have those days where eating a salad just isn’t going to cut it for me, so pizza it is. My problem is, it starts with one day and then ends up lasting a whole week.. sometimes two. I want for the rest of the year to stop being greedy and eat healthier (I always feel better when I do this, so I have no idea why I don’t stick to it). It works hand in hand with a gym routine, so hopefully I’ll succeed at them both and then carry it on into next year.

Carry on working on myself – This one being something I’ve tried so hard at this year alone. I’d say I’ve done better than I have done before, but I could still improve. Things change, circumstances change, life gets in the way.. so I need to stop being distracted by life and carry on focusing on myself, my career, my health, my mental health.. all those things. It feels amazing when you look back and see all those positive changes you’ve made to your life, so this is a goal I intend to do for the remainder of the year.

Set myself goals for 2020 – If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’d know I’m a goal setter. I like knowing what I want from my life, setting goals and actually achieving them. So as always, setting goals for the next year is what I will be doing. They will all be in my little notebook ready for me for 2020.

Meditate more – Some people believe in this, some people don’t. But for me this works, it only takes 5 or 10 minutes out of your day, but honestly sometimes I find myself making up excuses of why I can’t do it today. I annoy myself with this one.. I had a little meditation book bought for me at Christmas so at the beginning of the year meditating became a part of my daily routine. Like I’ve said before, life gets busy, so I’ve ended up slacking on this part of my life.. something I intend to change right now.

Have lots of content planned for 2020 – I mentioned I have big plans for my blog for 2020, so it’s important I have LOTS of content planned. If you haven’t already worked it out, I’m a planner and I use a separate notebook for my blog alone, filled with ideas on posts and in depth notes about each post (it makes life so much easier). So I will be spending great amounts of my time thinking of more ideas so that I always have something to write about and never struggle to think of a future post.

Start my days off fresh – I guess this is more of a sleep routine goal. I need to make sure I have 8 hours sleep every single night, go to sleep at an appropriate hour so I can get up early in the morning, and start my day feeling fresh and ready for whatever is to come. Drink lots of water always, this way I will be hydrated for the following day. (I always feel sluggish and tired if I haven’t had much water the previous day).. this then affects how I feel in the morning and how productive I am that day.

When I first started writing this post I thought it would be short, I didn’t imagine I had this many things I still wanted to achieve with only a couple of months left of the year. There are more points I was going to include, but I figured it would be too much for one post, so I picked out the ones I thought were most important.
