Book review – Day of the accident

I promised once I got hold of this book I would review it straight away! So here it is..

Another book wrote by the amazing Nuala Ellwood. She is definitely one of my favourite authors at the moment, I just can’t seem to find anyone else who writes books the way she does. The type that once you start reading you can’t put down.

I read her first book ‘My sister’s bones’ a while ago.. I did a review on it, which you can find here.

Then I heard she had released another book.. ‘Day of the accident’. I searched and searched for that book but couldn’t find it anywhere! Anyway I went into my local Tesco one day and there it was, right in front of me, alongside hundreds of other books. So obviously I picked it up straight away.

I wanted to start reading as soon as I got it but knew this would make for a good holiday book, so that’s what I did, I waited until I went on holiday to begin reading it. This was my plane journey over there, my sunbathing book (and any spare time I had whilst on holiday) and my plane journey home. I managed to finish it within the week. It could have easily been read in a day but I didn’t want to rush it and have nothing to read for the rest of the holiday.

The problem when you find a good book, is when you read another by the same author, you worry it isn’t going to be as good.. Well this book didn’t disappoint! Day of the Accident is just as good as My sister’s bones, if not better! I love a book that grips you from the beginning and keeps you guessing the whole way through. This way you can’t seem to put the book down, you have to keep on reading to find out what happens. This is one of those (hence why you could finish it in one sitting).

This book is very much from the inside of the characters mind, things she is thinking, her memory or lack of it. It’s the type that makes you want to know all the answers straight away but by not knowing, makes the story even more addictive.

I recently discovered that she is soon to be releasing another book in January 2020, called ‘The house on the lake’. So I will be sure to review that one!

You can buy this book on Amazon, I’ve included a link below:

I’m not going to go into too much detail about this book, because I may ruin it for anyone wanting to buy it. But if you love a gripping story, something with lots of substance and grit, this is the one for you. Just take it from me, buy this book!
